Important: what Valor Evidence Group is — and is not
Valor Evidence Group LLC is an educational and administrative consulting company. We are not a law firm, Veterans Service Organization, VA-accredited representative, claims agent, or medical provider. We do not provide legal advice, legal representation, VA claims representation, medical advice, or guaranteed outcomes. Clients remain responsible for all filings, submissions, deadlines, and decisions regarding their own matters.
Any medical evaluations, diagnoses, medical-record review, or medical opinions are provided only by independent third-party licensed healthcare professionals under their own professional responsibility, separate agreements, and separate billing. Valor Evidence Group may assist with administrative coordination, scheduling, and records organization; we do not direct, control, guarantee, or influence provider conclusions.
If legal advice or accredited representation is needed, we may help with referral coordination to independent accredited representatives or attorneys. Referral access does not guarantee acceptance; any professional relationship is separate from Valor Evidence Group and subject to that professional’s review, agreement, fees, and obligations.
Initial Screening Consultation
Before any paid tier is selected, Valor Evidence Group LLC offers an initial screening educational consultation. This session is informational: it helps you understand how flat-fee educational consulting works, which tier may fit your documentation goals, and what you would handle yourself (including all filings and submissions). It does not establish an ongoing client relationship by itself and does not include full record review unless separately agreed. Explore our free educational resources anytime.

Pricing in context
How common fee models compare (education only)
Veterans see many different pricing models. The points below summarize widely published rules and market discussions so you can ask better questions—not as legal, financial, or medical advice, and not as a description of any specific competitor’s contract.
Contingency percentages (accredited reps)
For VA-accredited attorneys and agents, contingency fees are usually discussed as a percentage of past-due (retro) benefits tied to the outcome—not a random markup on your entire monthly check. VA materials explain that 20% is often treated as a reasonable baseline and that fees above 20% up to 33⅓% may be reviewed for reasonableness depending on the agreement and facts.
Source: VA Office of General Counsel, Tips on Fee Agreements for Veterans’ Claims PDF on VA.gov. VEG is not a VA-accredited representative and does not charge contingency fees.
Nexus letters: what articles often quote
Public write-ups on private nexus letters frequently cite a wide band—often roughly $500 to $3,000 or more depending on specialty, record volume, and urgency—with specialist-level opinions commonly discussed around the $2,000–$3,000 range. Pricing is not standardized; always confirm scope and billing in writing with the clinician.
Illustrative industry discussion (third-party site): LegalClarity — nexus letter cost overview.
“Multiple of monthly increase” (illustration)
Some non-representation consulting or coaching agreements use a formula tied to how much your monthly VA payment went up after a decision. If you ever see a multiple like “six times the monthly increase,” the bill can get large quickly.
Example math only (not a real quote): 6 × $2,667 monthly increase ≈ $16,002
Your increase will differ; some providers use flat fees, others use percentages of retro pay. Read every fee schedule before you sign.
Affiliate flat fees (independent medical only)
Through negotiated referral pathways with independent affiliate clinicians (when available), veterans may be offered predictable cash rates that are billed only by the provider, separate from VEG educational consulting: $500 for an evaluation / diagnosis-oriented visit when clinically appropriate, and $700 for a nexus letter when clinically appropriate. Availability, scope, and clinical appropriateness are decided solely by the provider.
Medical independence: Valor Evidence Group does not provide medical opinions, does not set clinical fees, and does not guarantee a provider will accept a case.
Example bundle (illustrative only)
A veteran wants Tier 1 educational consulting plus an independent affiliate diagnosis-oriented visit and a separate nexus letter—all billed by the relevant parties under their own agreements.
- • Tier 1 (VEG flat range): $500–$750
- • Affiliate evaluation / diagnosis pathway: $500
- • Affiliate nexus letter: $700
Combined illustrative range: about $1,700–$1,950
Compare to public discussions where one specialist nexus alone is often described around $2,000–$3,000—before adding consulting or other records costs.
Numbers are rounded for readability. Third-party and affiliate fees can change; confirm current pricing in writing. Nothing here guarantees an outcome or a particular fee from any independent professional.

How the model works (examples)
Illustrative scenarios only; your situation is reviewed individually during consultation.
Example 1 — Diagnosis already in file
A veteran already has a diagnosis and supporting records but needs help organizing documents and preparing for a self-directed administrative submission. Tier 1 or Tier 2 may fit depending on record volume and how much indexing or chronology work is needed.
Example 2 — Possible need for additional medical documentation
A veteran believes additional medical documentation may be needed but does not yet have a diagnosis. Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3 may provide educational consultation and records organization. If requested, VEG may coordinate referral access to an independent licensed medical provider, who alone determines whether an evaluation, diagnosis, or opinion is clinically appropriate.
Example 3 — Complex records + possible independent medical opinion
A veteran has complex records and wants higher-touch educational support while exploring whether an independent medical opinion may be appropriate. Tier 3 may include documentation organization, self-advocacy coaching, and provider coordination. Any medical opinion is independently prepared by a licensed third-party provider under separate professional responsibility and billing.
Example 4 — Procedural correspondence
A veteran receives correspondence or procedural materials that may require legal advice or accredited representation. VEG may provide general educational support and document organization; legal advice and representation must be handled by an independent accredited attorney, claims agent, or representative under a separate agreement.
Cost questions
If cost is a concern, mention it during consultation or on your intake form. We also partner with VALOR VETERANS FOUNDATION, INC., a separate nonprofit that may assist with fees subject to eligibility and available funds.

Independent third-party medical providers
Medical evaluations, diagnoses, record review, and medical opinions are clinical services performed only by licensed independent providers under their own agreements and fees.
Valor Evidence Group may assist with administrative coordination, scheduling, and records organization so materials are easier for you (and any provider you choose) to review. Providers make independent clinical judgments. VEG does not direct, control, guarantee, or influence provider conclusions.
Medical independence: Independent medical providers are solely responsible for their own evaluations, clinical judgments, diagnoses, opinions, and professional conclusions. Valor Evidence Group does not direct, control, guarantee, or influence the outcome of any medical evaluation or opinion.
For general education on how medical opinions are discussed in VA disability documentation, see the nexus letter educational guide . Provider fees are separate unless clearly disclosed as a bundled administrative package with independent clinical services separately identified. Where negotiated affiliate pathways are available, clinicians may publish flat cash rates (for example $500 for an evaluation/diagnosis-oriented visit and $700 for a nexus letter); see pricing in context for a worked example—always confirm current scope and billing with the provider.
Fees, referrals, and transparency
Flat-fee educational consulting only. No contingency fees. No portion of any VA award is collected by VEG.
Referral coordination (accredited representatives)
If you may need legal advice or accredited representation, VEG may provide referral coordination. Attorneys, claims agents, and accredited representatives independently decide whether to accept a matter. Any representation requires a separate agreement directly between you and that professional.
Referral independence: Referral access does not guarantee acceptance by any attorney, claims agent, accredited representative, or provider. Any professional relationship is separate from Valor Evidence Group and subject to the independent professional’s own review, agreement, fees, and obligations.
Payment terms
Consulting fees are flat-fee as quoted for the agreed scope. Pricing may vary within the published ranges based on complexity and record volume. Final pricing is confirmed before work begins. Educational consulting does not guarantee outcomes.
